the fern listening to the wind
I recently wrote a post about the worst trait of parents ( emotional bullying) and the best trait of parents ( listening) so I thought it only safe to extend on one of the principles, which is listening.
What parents need to know is that parenting might hint that it is mum and dad who raise the family, but I prefer to believe a family raises its self. A mum and dad of course are crucial to the running of the family, but the kids help in parenting.
They give ideas, and insights which might never had been discovered.
In a world were people say it is hard to raise kids, they never, not even once ask the children what they want.
In the old days, we would all sit with mum and dad and talk about everything. We would interact and if there was something you did not like, you could voice it and someone would listen.
Probably no one would fix the problem, but someone would listen.
Summarized, the tips on parenting are
- Give room for your kids to voice how they feel about how they are raised
- Never stifle an opinion or idea
- Always try to listen, my post on it here, or to empathize
The magic trick is below
- Ask your kids about how you are raising them, every week. Ask then what they like, and don’t like. What they wish would change.

You make some very good points, Parenting as far as i’m concerned involves a lot of intuition and intuition involves listening at evey level.

I’ve learned a lot from a book called Parenting Child with Health Issues.
It’s helped me cope with some of the struggles in my every day life as well to plan for the future.
This book is full of tips and tricks and it works very well.
Unwavering parenting of teens requires 5 things…And simply the desire for those 5 things won’t cut it. It must be a skill and artform:
1. Acceptance (This is the key to influence)
2. Boundaries with Flexibility
3. Space for the child in the heart of the Parent
4. Emotional Influence
5. Unique Willingness to Be Heard, But You’re more willing to listen first
i like what your wrote Mr Bart, it makes sense, just differently written
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation
Anyway … nice blog to visit.
